Sometimes the more we try to control our thoughts and feelings the more we might struggle — because we just cannot control our minds.
Since it sounds as though you haven’t found it possible to stop thinking, perhaps a different approach might be worthwhile? An approach where you acknowledge and allow all the thoughts and feelings your mind chooses to generate, for example? This might help remove you from the struggle and free up some energy and attention so you can do things that might be more meaningful and important to you.
In terms of the boredom of the night, since we always have control over our actions I wonder if it might be worth spending a bit of time exploring any potential activities you could do instead of dealing with boredom all night and battling with your mind all night? Such activities don’t necessarily need to feel fun — they might simply be more appealing compared to the alternative!
