      Hi.
At first, I’m sorry about my english 🙂

Last few years i have trouble to sleep enought… In the past, i remember that was not a problem to woke up with full of energy and with just that “good sleep” feeling. But for couple of year’s is this slowly gone only worse. I don’t even remember when I was last time woke up with this feeling.
      The problem is:

When I go to sleep, i ALWAYS have absolutely no problem to fell asleep. It takes 5-10min and I sleep like a baby. But…
I just woke up early. Normally I can sleep +- 6 hours and then I woke up with the feeling like when you somebody woke up in middle of the night. I just have feeling that the body needs lot of more sleep, but can’t sleep again.

I’m 27y, healthy, not fat, eating healthy (but not vege), do not have depression or much of stress… I really like my life otherwise.

When I’m woking up it’s always from the same faze of sleep. I’m always dreaming, so i think it’s the REM faze of sleep. And in this faze i slowly begin to woke up. I just “feel” that the dream is slowly going away and the “reality” comes. And it has nothing to do with the dream, I’m not having nightmares or something like that. When I woke up at the start i always feel dizzy and sleepy. After some time I feel the body have more and more energy until I’m completely awake and ready to “work”. I think that some hormon just increasing himself during the sleep and wake me up every time.

Normally I sleep six hours, so it’s enought to “live normally” even if the quality of day it’s not the best. But the problem is, that when I have lot of fyzical activity this problem gone lot of worse.
Im active person, i work with my hands, going to gym, running… Somethimes i have to work hard a give plenty of my energy and when I do that, it’s even worse. When I give lot of energy, i sleep max 3-4 hours and then the quality of the day really sucks. It’s quite ironic, because it should have the opposite effect. I go to the bed always at 22:00 and woking up between 1:00-2:00am.

I tried to take a melatonin (min 15mg or nothing happens) when I woke up in the night, but then it’s crazy… I’m constantly fall asleep and woke up again over and over in short periods of time, like the body is battle with the sleep ?

      Do you have some ideas?

Just don’t try me to say something about sleep hygiene… I really tried many of the “basic” sleeping tips but nothing’s really worked.

After six hours of sleep there isn’t going to be much sleep pressure remaining, so falling back to sleep after six hours of sleep is going to be less likely compared to waking after one or two hours of sleep!

Falling back to sleep can also become more difficult if we put pressure on ourselves to fall back to sleep or put effort into falling back to sleep — since these actions increase arousal and, after a good amount of sleep, we don’t have enough sleep drive to overpower that arousal.

You might find it helpful to implement a sleep window since this can help reduce the amount of time available for wakefulness, help strengthen the body clock, and ensure sufficient sleep drive for sleep at night.

At the end of the day, we have no control over sleep. We can’t make ourselves fall asleep, fall back to sleep, or get a certain amount of sleep. All we can do is create and maintain good conditions for sleep, live the kind of life we want to live, and trust our body’s natural ability to sleep. The body will always generate, at the very least, the minimum amount of sleep we need.

        I hope this helps.
