      Hi
In the evening around 9pm watching t.v I can’t keep awake, keep nodding of just for a couple of minutes at a time. Sleep has improved at night with sleep resriction 11:30 to 6am but after some good nights I thought I would go to bed at 10:30 last night as I can’t stay awake.
And of course it didn’t work and was up again at 10:30 till 11:45.
      Then broken sleep until morning.

Any advice how to stay awake until my sleep window. I feel I need to spend time with my husband watching t.v as this is our normal routine and also as I’m home all day I have run out of things to do.

        I have this exact problem

I keep nodding off just before my sleep window while watching TV, sometimes falling asleep for up to an hour on the couch. I wake up and I’m mad at myself for nodding off which makes it harder to fall asleep.

I think we need to sit on a hard chair or something until our sleep window starts.

          Hi David
How long have you been doing sleep restriction, are you getting results. Only been doing 1 week,I was doing well at first but now I have had a couple of good nights it is getting harder and my mind is racing again and I have daytime anxiety.
Feel very tired today not sure I will make it to my sleep window.

            Hi @hbhigg!

Most people can find it difficult to remain awake until their sleep window begins and as long as we’re sedentary as the window approaches, it becomes even harder. I realize this may sound odd, but have you tried standing while watching TV? You can’t fall asleep while standing and it’s a tactic I used when I experienced insomnia and was waiting on my midnight sleep window to arrive. You could also color, craft, plan your lunch for the next day, iron your clothes, etc. – anything that is relaxing (and not overstimulating) but not sedentary.

            Hope that helps,
            Scott J
