      Although it’s been a year since taking the course, I just wanted to add to any discussion regarding CBT-I. I retired 10 years ago as a therapist working primarily with cognitive behavior therapy with clients.

      I still take medications for sleep but I apply the principle of CBT-I in getting out of bed if I wake (which I almost always do) after a few hours. I generally get up and do about 15-20 minutes coloring mandalas. It will take a month or two to complete a mandala but it is mindless and I strive to make the mandala symmetrical. (I also take a hit of weed so I’m relaxed and ready to sleep- Can I say that Martin?)

      But the main idea about CBT-I is to interrupt the stay-in-bed phase of wakefulness. Works for me.
