I lead an extremely challenged life. I love to travel but apparently I’m allergic to it! It doesn’t allow me to sleep at all. I joined the Peace Corps 4 years ago and haven’t had a good night’s sleep since. Developed chronic insomnia. Dr started prescribing sleeping pills. Haven’t been able to sleep on my own without them. I once tried and went 7 nights w/out sleep. No fun! I’ve tried every method known to man to help promote sleep. Nothing has worked. I’ve just recently returned to the States and my husband and I are traveling in an RV. At least it’s the same bed every night!

Why do you feel that you struggle with sleep? When you go to bed, what happens? I don’t think I’ve heard of anyone going 7 days and nights without sleep. Did you really get 0 minutes of sleep over a 7 day period?

What I know from the literature is that the maximal number of days one can survive w/o sleep is between 7 and 15. Longer times – and you die.
