Hello All,
I started my journey with Coffea – a homeopath remedy for insomnia on 31 December 2011 – I am going to share this journey with you and see where it takes me.
A little background, have been using Zopiclone for about five years (all the brand names are English, I am not sure of the American brand name). Anyway, this generic has a number of products with different components, some work to get me to sleep, with hangover the next day and no dreaming, basically knocks me out – but I can operate on it – I do suffer from depression, lack of motivation and listlessness on this generic, however, one mix of components gives me bad headaches, so on Thursday night I took one and a half of these – equivalent to 12mgs, on waking up the next day I decided I could not go on like this, I have a life to live and was not doing very well on implementing this life, so I made two decisions, one to get the Coffea, a good homeopath was recommended by my landlady, a lady of 87 years who is still very alert and active, so I took her counsel, so I order an urgent overnight delivery to arrive on Saturday morning, but I still needed to sleep on Friday night, I decided not to take the Zopiclone which causes the headaches, but decided to try Tremazapin (used as a pre-med before operations), I had tried this once before, but it did not work, in fact it seemed to stimulate me, but I had had an epelectic seizure the night before, so I though perhaps the seizure had effected the meds – so me, in my infinite wisdom, took two tablets – a total of 20mgs – well I ended up overdosing – I had nightmares the entire night, would wake up barely breathing after each nightmare, in the morning I had a major headache over the right temporal lobe and extremely nauseous – I fought vomitting the entire day – I lay down all day, only getting up for brief periods, combined with about 8 paracetomol and Neurofen Plus – the headache eventually moved to the left frontal lobe but the nausea continued all day.
Eventually I had to get up, I am working with a client at the moment and he needed attention. But I was determined to start the Coffea. So around 7:00p.m. I took the first sugar pill under my tongue, I still felt very fragile, but about an hour later, I felt more light-hearted – it was not a concious decision or one that I really noted, until, I found myself dancing to a little advertisement on the television and it was like – Oh My Goodness, I can't believe I just did that, I actually feel like dancing!!
A little later, around 10:00p.m. I took another, they recommend one to start and a second if you not feeling that tired, because of my intense relationship with Zopiclone, I decided to take two – anyway, I went to bed around 11:00p.m. and while I did not sleep very well, due in part to the fireworks going on through New Years Eve, I did get up earlier than usual, still feeling a bit fragile and off to church and then lunch – I have been feeling light-hearted and more focussed today – this could be because the new year has eventually started and I can start getting life back on track (I am not wild about Christmas and New Year, I consider them dead times of the year – this has nothing to do with religion or faith, I am a theologian and spent seven years working in the ministry, it is just a time of year that nothing productive happens), anyway, I have decisions to make today, and I faced them more positively than normal, I am rather a sensitive person, in that I feel others moods and emotions, but their reservations did not affect me as they usually do – so my question – has this got to do with the Coffea?
Coffea, is based on the though process – a little curse for the curse – I ad lib, but the philosphey is the same as with children with ADD or ADHA, to calm a stimulated brain, you stimulate the brain – so coffee, as we know it stimulates the brain – Coffea, is meant to stimulate and by doing this calm it – my brain certainly feels more calm today.
So, at the beginning of this journey, I will share my experience with you – if it works, brilliant – I am a cronic insomniac, if I do not take meds, I do not sleep and in fact sometimes I can take the meds and still go 24 to 48 hours – so lets walk this together – it may help others – if not, I will share with you my next step, which will be intensive homeapath treatment – I have not walked this road before, but family members have – and it worked.
Time to chuck the drugs and look at the remedies – there has to be a better alternative. So if you want, walk with me

January 2, 2012 at 2:31 pm #13456Last night, my second night on Coffea, I took one sugar pill at 10:30p.m., about half an hour later, I felt a little sleepy, so put down my book (I am an avid reader) and lay down to sleep, at 12:30a.m. I took a second pill, I was tired but did not fall asleep, interesting enough I had a tingling feeling in my frontal lobe, very gentle, an awareness, but my brain had slowed down and was not racing, I also found that my thoughts were gentle and at a lower level, what do I mean by this, my mind usually races at a very high speed and it appears to one one level above what I would consider my normal brain wave, almost like an ECG, it seems to be high in my brain, with peaks, so the level of peaking was more in the frontal lobe and not in the cranium. Around 2:30a.m. I took half a Zopiclone – approx 4 mgs – fell asleep around 5:00a.m. But I am in good spirits today, if a little tired. So, we continue with Coffea until I get a definite picture.
January 2, 2012 at 4:11 pm #13457Interesting. Your comments are very analytical. Even though you are a writer, you have something of the scientist in you! I look forward to hearing more as you accummulate data.
I did some research on the internet yesterday. One study is analyzing a piece of Melatonin called UCM765, They hope to get rid of the side effects and keep only the effective part.

January 3, 2012 at 11:50 am #13458I am very analytical, downside of the writer, also the poet, and of course I think to much – with lots of time. But I always try and present information in the way that I want to read it, I like information. So last night, very tired, I took two sugar pills, Coffea, under my tongue, I also took half a Zopiclone, I really needed to sleep, it took awhile for me to fall asleep and I did wake up regularly during the night, but I was not stressed in any way, my mind was calm, and I dreamed, this is a wonderful thing for me, as when you take sleeping tablets, one often does not dream, our braim is knocked out, so probably not resting well. So, far I have to say my experience with Coffea is being rather pleasant, I am not getting the 8 hours sleep that I would like, but my mind is calmer, I am feeling less stressed and positive. Let's see how long I can last on limited sleep and limited prescription medication – the goal, a clear mind, motivated, light-hearted and generally happy – big goal – maybe, but I am a big thinker kinda of person.
January 4, 2012 at 12:21 pm #13459Mmm………. 2 sugar Coffea and 7.5mg of zipiclone, slept relatively well, no headache – but disappointed I needed the meds – was working and a little agigated, so this is why I took the meds – still in a light-hearted mood. This is good.
January 6, 2012 at 3:01 am #13460Ok, it is now 3:00a.m. I have taken my sugar Coffea pills and broke down and took 7.5mg of zopiclone and dang, I am not sleeping, I hope this relationship with Coffea is not going to be short and sweet, excuse the pun – so I am thinking that perhaps I should just push through until tomorrow and start again, or should I just lie in bed, getting some rest if not some sleep, let me have another cup of tea and make that decision after the refreshing drink. I am little tired, but not near sleeping
January 6, 2012 at 12:28 pm #13461I eventually fell asleep, alarm went off at 8:00a.m., switched it off and went back to sleep, fortunately i am not working today, but need to get my schedule on track. I feel as though I let myself down by taking the zopiclone – will try again tonight,
January 7, 2012 at 6:34 pm #13462Thank you so much for sharing – I know this will be very helpful for other members. Good luck, and keep us updated. It would also be good if other members who may have tried or have questions about Coffea chime in on this thread, too.

January 9, 2012 at 5:29 pm #13463So, how am I doing on my little journey, well, like all journeys, I have had a few hiccups alone the way, last night I took 7.5mg of zipiclone with my two Coffea, interesting things is that I am dreaming, which never happens when I take meds, so I am thinking that the Coffea does slow down the brainwaves, now all I need to do is cut back on the meds again, I am feeling rather well though, same meds, less hangover effect – not sure what this means, but I am from Africa, we rarely give up – when I talk about The Road Less Traveled, I am not kidding, a good book, by the way – Scott Peck, it gives some insight to the workings of our complicated brains and emotions. Very inspirational book.
January 10, 2012 at 7:11 pm #13464So, here is the thing, I am still taking my sleeping tablets, zopiclone 7.5mg – but I am also taking the Coffea, the interesting point here, is no headaches (which I usually get with this particular tablet), I am more alert (even though I am waking up two to three times a night) and I am organised, progressive and positive, these are usually absent when I am just taking the meds – so, it may all be in the mind, a great contributing factor to sleeplessness, but I am feeling rather great under circumstances – could it be the Coffea?
January 11, 2012 at 6:58 pm #13465This is very interesting. May I ask where/how you originally heard about Coffea?

January 11, 2012 at 8:50 pm #13466I contacted a homeopath, a company in the UK from whom I had received a reference from a very credible person, I am not into hype and while I believe alternate medicine and homeopathy has its place, I had found alternative meds did not work for me, however, after a particularly bad night with another incredible headache in the morning, I knew I had to take things into hand, so I called them, they recommended Coffea and I made the decision to try it – so far I am pleased with the results.
I might add, I have had a long history of prescription meds, long story which I need not share, but at one stage I was taking Limictum (for temporaral lobe epilepsy) in the morning to get my head together, tranquilisers during the day to keep me together and sleeping tablets to sleep – I could not take the drugs anymore, so slowly removed all, except the sleeping tabs from my life. I might add here that I had even been prescribed Rhipmol (not sure of the spelling, but the date drug) and that did not help me sleep, so I was a little reluctant not to take a schedule drug to sleep. Worthwhile doing some research Martin.
June 22, 2019 at 9:08 am #30277I had experience with Coffea. Initially it helped me sleep for four hours (without any aids I do not sleep for several days and nights). Then it`s effectiveness decreased till 2 hours. Then I worked with one shaman (actually it was she who contacted me) and after her “treatment” coffea stopped working. I do not knnow about another homeopathy. As well as magnesium stopped help me relax and sleep. So now I do not know what to do. I asked her to correct her mistake and return everything back how it was but she does not do it.
Sleep specialists suggest me CBT-i. It could be possible for me it I could sleep at least three hours at night. But with zero sleep at night I do not know how to implement it. I have books and audiobooks about CBT-i. But I cannot do sleep restriction and stimulus control. That is my problem. I will die soon. This is what our specialists say.
Sorry for my bad English. I am not a native speaker.
I hope my post is helpful for you.
