I would like to thank all the support given here by Martin, hiung yong and scott…finally i am completely off my sleep medication after a month of sleep restriction with 6.5hrs of sleep window.

However, yesterday was my first day of reducing my final 10% to 0% sleep pill and i end up 1hr sleep of the night. I noticed that once i have a string of good nights (ranging frm 3-7days), i usually have a feeling which i wont be able to sleep on that night (which im less tired during the day)…and for sure i will end up struggling to fall asleep, getting more and more anxious during the whole night, and eventually sleeping only 0-4hrs for that night.. is this common during recovery process?

      Any recommendation on overcoming this?

Congratulations on eliminating that final dose!

When we consider that the brain will always want to evaluate and monitor for the effect of any changes we make, might it be normal and to be expected that there might be some temporary sleep disruption during those first nights of zero medication?

What is it about the idea of not getting any sleep that seems to generate anxiety? Do you have anything good planned for today to help you train your brain that you might have a good amount of control over the quality of your day, rather than this being completely predetermined by how you sleep?

          Thanks Martin!

It seems its becoming a habit that once im not able to fall asleep within 30mins, i will feel anxious automatically, and then i will want to remove myself from the bed… is this something normal for people that suffer sleepless nights for long? Or there should be some underlying reason which i really need to uncover in order to overcome this plateau?

Due to the lockdown in my country, i hardly can go anywhere.. so i have only very limited activities during the day, but i did follow ur advice not to cancel any plan after bad nights sleep. It seems i need to increase daily activities to build sleep drive, but somehow the more i did during the day, the harder i get to sleep ( i think its down to im expecting a better sleep after invest into more day time activities?)

            Hello Bee!
Great to hear you’ve made progress! You are finally experiencing true natural sleep which is surely better than 8 hours of drugged sleep. I read your post and the thing is this: *The story you tell yourself about your sleep WILL come true*. Which is exactly what’s happening in your case. Go to youtube and search for “Cure chronic insomnia by the effortless method” by Yousquared based on the book “The effortless sleep method” by Sasha Stephens. It is just a 10 minute video but is full of the universal truths about sleep. Ultimately you want to get to the stage where you have complete confidence in your ability to sleep, much like every normal sleeper. Keep going and you will get there! Good luck!

              Thanks hiung yong!

I am again having merely 2hrs on 2nd day of 0% med… it didnt give me much sleepless nights during the whole tapering off process, but i found the phase now (completely off medication) is toughest…

My baby is coming next week…hopefully i can pull through this phase and improve before the little one arrived!

I read through stephen sasha’s book earlier, thanks again for ur recommendation.
