      Severe insomnia and the gut microbe are related. If there is an imbalance in the gut then the body always has high cortisol levels which causes wakefulness throughout each night. Anxiety/depression is harmful for the gut microbe.

        Thanks for sharing your thoughts! If chronic insomnia was caused by a “gut microbe imbalance”, we might expect that fixing that imbalance would cure chronic insomnia. Unfortunately, I don’t know of any evidence that has found this to be the case.

          I am on cortisol for gut issues related to insomnia. It worked for about a month and now it doesn’t. This was my experience.
