Hi. First time posting in this forum but I am starting to get desperate. I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea about 3 years ago as my sleep study results showed that I had approximately 15 episodes an hour and snored extremely badly.

As a result I was prescribed a CPAP which I was unable to get used to and gave up after 3 months. Fortunately, I was able to go to a specific dentist that specializes in sleep apnea oral appliances and the follow up study results showed that this device was effectively treating my sleep apnea.

However, even though I use this sleep apnea oral appliance nightly, I am still extremely tired throughout the day on a constant basis.

Returned to sleep dr and he told me that he wasn’t sure what to do bc my apnea is under control.

My current primary concern that has me so frustrated is how that I have no problem being able to fall asleep at bedtime, my problem is that I will wake up approximately 3-4 hours later and then I am unable to go back to sleep. This happens pretty much every night and it is having a negative impact on my quality of life.

Have already tried melatonin, OTC sleeping aids, and prescription sleep aids. Lunesta seemed to work the best to keep asleep throughout the night but I would always feel “drugged” and sluggish the next day until around mid afternoon. Any advice or suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the forum. I’m glad to hear that study results show your oral appliance is effectively treating your sleep apnea.

When you wake during the night, why do you think you find it hard to fall back to sleep?
