      Hi all,

I’m currently using the CBTI to tackle and hopefully resolve my insomnia. I’ve been dealing with insomnia for almost a year.

In recent months, I’ve developed deep circles and eye bags as a result of the sleep deprivation. This in itself creates quite a bit of anxiety for me.

Has anyone else experienced this? Do you know if these symptoms improve with sleep?

I also have very dark under eyes, looks like someone gave me two black eyes. It’s hard to not be self conscious about it. I felt even worse when I saw a picture of myself some years back. My skin was a normal color under my eyes!

I also would like to hear how others deal with this issue.

That would be me too. Very self conscious about this, especially now that I am starting a job search and wondering if potential employers notice and wonder about appearance. Once I start sleeping a bit more I am condsidering getting an injectible filler in the eye trough area.

Does the eye bags and dark circles go away after a night of good sleep or do they fade gradually. I have them every morning so just assume ive not slept. How many hours sleep do you need to prevent them or to make them go away is there a minimum we need for them to go away?

Unfortunately we can’t really control our appearance (short of surgery) — just as we can’t control sleep itself. I wonder if a more workable approach might be engaging in activities that allow you to live a meaningful life, even in the presence of eye bags and dark circles?
