So after reading many books I came by something talking about delayed sleep phase syndrome where the natural cycle of body temperature drop and sleepiness occurs at very odd times and this causes lots of problems for me I have hard time knowing when to go to sleep because in the day in between 9 am to 2 pm I am at my most tired/sleepiness and my bedtime is like 12pm and my wake time is 6 am but basically all throughout the night I am in a very light sleep that is not recuperative at all if anything I’m starting to believe that this light sleep phase I’m in all night is keeping me stuck and I’d be far better off just not sleeping at all during that period because this not building any sleep drive.

As I was reading the section of the book where it talks about DSPS they said one of the solutions is to push your sleep back a few hours so lets say I’m going to bed at 12 am this would mean that I would go at 3 am now I’m skeptical about this working but think I will
give it a try because the advice I’ve been given so far is to lie in bed and be restful which
      is simply not working.

It might be best to discuss your concerns with your doctor. We typically see people with DSPS have no problem at all with sleep when they give themselves the opportunity to sleep according to their internal body clock. Sleep only becomes an issue when they try to sleep at what might be thought of as more socially acceptable times (ie during the night!).

It might not be a good idea to experiment with your sleep schedule based on the assumption you have DSPS without seeking a medical diagnosis first.
