I am a 76 year old woman who has had 6 children, married 55 years. Have IBS and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I started have sleep problems in my 40's. I started taking mild antihistamines at first, then I needed to increase the dosage. Then I got to the place where they didn't work so I went to a supplemental medicine store and explored all the options. After many trial and errors, I ended up taking a combination of Melatonin 3mg, 5-HTP 200mg and “Dream On””. I started having trouble finding Dream On, so I started trying other supplemental sleep medicines. Now I switch around so my body doesn't get used to just one and it becomes less effective. The 3 that I am switching around with at the present are Alteril, Dream On, and Power to Sleep PM. I also started taking a good probiotic ,Multi-Flora(Critical Colon) since I heard that a large portion of our dopamine is produced in the gut.. My digestion is much improved and my sleep is good-8or9 hrs. each night. I also took off all caffeine , even chocolate — don't eat after 8PM. I have periods every 2 or 3 months when I still don't sleep, so I signed up with Martin Reed. My word to the many sleepless people out there, there is hope. I didn't want to take prescription sleep meds so have found many herbal supplements that do the job. I look forward to hearing from you, if you have more questions.
