      Hi everyone.

So I’ve suffered from insomnia for a while now. Sometimes it’s not bad but other times it’s terrible.

On Friday night I went on a stag party with 9 other people drinking etc. They were all also taking cocaine which I didn’t want to do as I’ve never done it and I’m not the type of person who takes drugs. Somehow whilst I was drunk I ended up agreeing to taking some (extremely stupid I know and I don’t expect sympathy). So that night I didn’t sleep at all, thrn the next night I got 3 hours sleep, and then last night none at all. I’m now worried that me doing that has somehow caused me to lose the ability to sleep. I understand me not sleeping the night I did it but another 2 nights have passed since and I’m still not sleeping. Is it possible that the drug has somehow caused my brain to lose the ability to sleep?

I must stress, I don’t condone Amy drug taking and I’d never done it before myself and never will again, I’m just now a bit scared it’s caused permanent damage to my sleep.

We never lose our ability to sleep — when we’ve been awake for long enough sleep will always happen. Of course, if we believe we have lost the ability to sleep then that can lead to a lot of difficult thoughts and feelings — thoughts and feelings that don’t feel good, so we often start trying to fight or avoid them.

This battle with our thoughts and feelings can make sleep more difficult — but, as always, sleep will always happen in the end.

        I hope this helps!
