I’ve had insomnia for a few weeks when a few difficult nights with my newborn daughter being hard to put down to sleep triggered something in me like a hypervigilance. I am desperate to get my sleep back but I am on such high alert all of the time like the feeling you have before you’re about to run a race but always. Does sleep restriction training help override this arousal? Do you eventually get so tired you just crash out? I don’t know how else to overcome it. I am constantly terrified I won’t sleep so I don’t and on and on.

Hi katelynntaco, I think Martin’s materials would help. These include videos and ongoing emails, as well as the course.

Obviously your tough situation with a newborn is a recipe for insomnia, but as you point out, worrying about sleep can take on a life its own. The information on this site deals extensively with this problem—sleep anxiety.

I am glad you found this site, and I think you will find help here.
