Whilst I’ve taken on board the fact you should continue with your life despite insomnia, I’m always concerned about driving long distances when I’ve had many consecutive nights of interrupted sleep. For this reason I have occasionally cancelled plans – Is this the right thing to do?

If you are concerned about your safety, then it’s probably the right thing to do! All I would add is that many people with chronic insomnia aren’t sleepy to the point where they uncontrollably and unpredictably fall asleep without warning during the day — we typically see people with chronic insomnia as being “tired but wired”. I think this can be helpful to mention since it can be easy to mistake fatigue for sleepiness.

If you are ready to stop struggling with insomnia you can enroll in the online insomnia coaching course right now! If you would prefer ongoing phone or video coaching calls as part of a powerful three month program that will help you reclaim your life from insomnia, consider applying for the Insomnia Mastery program.
