Hi! I’m new here. I am experiencing some issues with sleep, mainly waking up at 4am for no reason. I have a firm bedtime of 11pm and it is easy for me to fall asleep. I want to wake up at 7am but I keep waking up way too early and at all different times…then I cant get back to bed. I have a question on Sleep Restriction. Since it’s easy for me to fall asleep at 11pm, would it make more sense for me to wake up at 5:30pm instead of pushing my sleep later? I am very worried about trying to stay up later because I can hardly keep my eyes open around 10pm/10:30pm I am currently in bed 6.5 hours per night.

        Welcome to the forum!

When you wake around 4:00 AM, why do you think you find it hard to fall back to sleep?

I wonder if your desire to get eight hours of sleep (to fall asleep at 11:00 PM and wake at 7:00 AM) might be an obstacle to achieving that goal since we cannot control sleep in that way?
