Has anybody have tips how to keep awake when the sleep dive is kicking in about 8 and 9 o clock pm ie before my going to be time.

I enjoy taking occasional afternoon naps to stave off early evening sleepiness.

But I know that’s probably taboo because you’ve been told no naps, etc etc. All this rhetoric just to protect your nocturnal sleep.

But I am super relaxed about my sleep and I don’t mind feeling sleepy later or sleeping a bit less at night. Because I don’t fear poor sleep and am super relaxed about my sleep rules, I continue to sleep well.

You have several options really, you could
        1. do the naps,
        2. go to bed at 8-9 pm when you feel sleepy but expect to wake up earlier too, OR
        3. do nothing and continue to fight the sleepiness. Actually feeling sleepiness is a surefire sign that your sleep system still works.

Thank you for your very informative reply. I much appreciate it.
I want to continue nocturnal sleeping. I am new to this approach to sleep. Have you any good ideas how to challenge the 8 and 9 o clock sleepiness feeling. I just keep trying diffferent things at the minute such as getting up and doing the washing up as well as standing up.

I would love to have answers to this also. My sleep time is 12-7 but like you I get sleepy at 9 or 10 pm. I know not to lay down on the cough or I am a goner. It is good to be sleepy though isnt it? I am trying to sit up in a chair or sit up on the couch which seems to work. I also try to take a quick power nap for 30 min but sometimes I dont wake up. Yep, I tend to get up around 6 am and I wish it was 7am or 8 am. Love to hear how others sleep later in the mornings. I am definitely a night owl and happy that way if I could only sleep later in the morning.

Thank you once again. Personally I am a lark with a sleep window of 11.15 pm to 6.00 am. It is definately good to feel sleepy though .
