While I’ve entitled this post “Falling asleep and staying asleep seems to get more difficult with age”, I am in the midst of trying CBT-I to get out of an insomnia jag. Falling asleep has always been a bit difficult for me. My brain tends to chatter a lot about whatever and in my adult years it’s always been a challenge to shut it off and fall asleep.

In mid to late August, due a series of events, I couldn’t fall asleep. After several nights it spiraled out of control. After trying all sorts of herbs and supplements, getting a prescription for Trazadone (but decided I didn’t want to take it), I stumbled onto this website and Martin Reed’s YouTube channel. I’d heard of CBT before, but not CBT-I. I got a couple of books out of the library and since October 1, have been doing, or trying to do CBT-I. I do think I need to tweak a few things, but the upshot is that each night since then, I’m seeing overall incremental improvements.
