Before I had sleep issues, I used to get this normal tired and groggy feeling in the morning when I woke up. Even though this was annoying at the time, it was insuring me that I got good sleep. Now, no matter what time I wake up, it can be 2 or 4 am, I am wide awake. I’m so awake that I could probably start my day at these early hours if I wanted to. So, I’m not certain anymore whether I have even slept or not, and this worsens my anxiety about my sleep. I no longer feel confident about whether or not I’m getting deep, restorative sleep.

I know exactly what you mean. I lost track of how many hours I’ve slept or if I slept at all.
