      I sleep for about 1 hour and wake up with racing heart and sweating. This happens throughout the night and I am lucky to get 3 hours sleep a night. This has been going on for months. I have been told I am experiencing panic attacks and the fight or flight response that goes with it. Am too exhausted to see friends and it is ruining my life.

        Sorry to hear about your struggles with sleep. Waking in “fight or flight” mode is a relatively common symptom of hyperarousal and many people with chronic insomnia experience hyperarousal due to the repeated experience of sleep difficulties.
