Following CBT I and taking trazodone

      I’m following CBTi and can get around 5-6 hours of sleep a night though I am taking trazodone 90mg and I think it is making me very fatigued during the day so I’d like to taper off trazodone.

      I feel like I’m trapped by the possible anxiety that may come if I lower the dose and may make it harder to get back to sleep when I wake up.

      I am looking for any experience or advice any of you might have

          Thanks for the reply. I thought the anxiety with reducing the dose may cause the sleep to get worse.

          I have tapered to 50mg and trying the sleep window restriction from 11:30-5:30. So I will see how that goes.

            Thanks for sharing! Anxiety is often an unpleasant feeling — but it doesn’t stop sleep from happening. Trying to fight or avoid it sure can though! That’s because we cannot control the thoughts and feelings our mind generates as it does its job of looking out for us. So, the more we try, the more we can get tangled up in an endless, exhausting, and distracting battle with our minds!

              I agree about not being able to fight the thoughts.

              I am trying to learn how to not fight for thoughts but except the concerns of my mind and be curious about them rather than trying to fight them. Any tips how to do that are appreciated I really struggled to get back to sleep last night with circling thoughts/concerns.

                Sometimes it can be useful to acknowledge the difficult thoughts and feelings that show up by naming them in some way, for example “Here is anxiety” or “I notice I am feeling anxious” and then to make a bit of space for them to exist. To practice observing them and allowing them to come and go as they please, without trying to fight or avoid them.
