Desperately need help. I’m 41 yrs old and have horribly groggy / brain fog / physically weak days unless asleep by 9:30pm. We have 3 kids with ADHD who will not go to sleep early. I’m up until at least 10:30pm and end up waking up exhausted and my mind isn’t clear for the entire day. Sleeping in doesn’t help. The only way I wake up with a clear mind and energy is if in bed by 9pm or 9:30pm. I’ve tested this over many months with the same result.

It’s making life extremely difficult and I’m desperate to understand the cause and a solution that would let me go to bed around 10:30pm and wake up feeling like a human being.

I don’t think this is a common circumstance and would love any advice or direction! Thank you!

I can’t think of any biological reason why falling asleep at 10:00 PM would lead to all the symptoms you described, compared to falling asleep 30 minutes earlier. Do you tend to get the same amount of sleep if you go to bed later than 9:00 PM or 9:30 PM?

Does the time you get out of bed to start your day change, depending on when you go to bed or fall asleep at night? Does what you do each day vary depending on when you go to bed or fall asleep at night?
