Hi, there! My name is Lindsay, and I live in El Paso, Texas. It's a real hell hole sometimes, but the sunshine almost every day is nice. I have a husband of 8 years, and two lovely children with him. I write, golf, and hike for fun and I'd love nothing more than to get a high speed camera and take nature pictures.
Maybe if I win the lotto, which is played religiously every week in my house. I can dream, right? 😉 My husband has been on his fourth deployment since last May, and deployments are when my sleeping problems always start to multiply. The docs have thought for years I have sleep apnea, but it takes military doctors fo evah to diagnose anything. In the meantime, I count the cracks in my ceiling and wonder if that one to the right of the dust bunny is getting bigger.
Looking forward to being a member of this fine community! 🙂

Well met, and see you around the boards! 😎
February 1, 2010 at 3:30 pm #9263Welcome to the gang, Lindsay!
I've never been to Texas, but want to get out there someday. Playing 'spot the difference' with dust bunnies sure sounds like an original insomnia cure to me – I think you should post that in the insomnia section 😉
Hey – what's it like having your birthday on Independence Day? Is it annoying, or even more of a party? I've always wondered.
Oh and Yam – I'm across the pond, too!!

A birthday on Independance Day sucked as a kid, mostly because all my friends were on vacations, etc, but it's awesome now. BBQ's are the best!

February 1, 2010 at 3:40 pm #9267Pleasure to meet you Lindsay, you play golf eh? I took a few swings at the sport before, was thrilling.
Hope to see you around!

I do. Was on the high school team in fact, but I totally suck under pressure. lol Nice to meet you!
February 1, 2010 at 3:50 pm #9269I'm more of a 'Pitch n Putt' kind of guy – although I am also rather terrible (but enthusiastic) at Tiger Woods Golf on the Wii 😉

February 1, 2010 at 9:02 pm #9270Hi Lindsay,
I have to say I'm glad it's so dark where I live – there isn't enough light to check the dust bunnies at night here although there are so many I'm sure it would send me to sleep!
Good to meet you
Paula
February 2, 2010 at 6:05 am #9271Do you get stressed out over the deployments?
My husband is retired military but he works for a company with NAVY contracts so he is away a lot. (He might even be going to Haiti now.) I don't dare take my sleep meds when he is gone because I am afraid I will have an emregency with my 4yr old.

Yes, it's very stressful, especially with kids. And I totally feel you on the meds situation. The doctors don't understand why I refused heavy sleep stuff.
February 2, 2010 at 10:21 pm #9273Hi Lindsay! It's nice to meet you! I can totally understand not being able to sleep when your husband is away and not wanting to take heavy meds with the kids there — I have a bit of trouble sleeping when mine's away and he's never even gone for long! Does anything help?

Hi, there! It comes and goes; unfortunately when I do sleep all night I feel worse than if I hadn't slept at all. lol, gotta love it. I read in another thread you have seasonal disorder. So do I, which is why El Paso is so great for me. It's rarely rainy or cloudy.
