          Thanks for the welcome emmaree.

I used to suffer from insomnia years ago and quite recently it has resurfaced and been a bit of a problem. I'm hoping it'll improve and the sooner the better.

            Welcome to the gang, Dave.

Have you been to the doctor for your insomnia? What have you tried to help you sleep better? Have you identified a trigger of your insomnia?

The more you share here, the more we can help and support each other.

I look forward to getting to know you.

I've never been to the doctors with my sleeping disorder.

It's strange because it's all happened so quickly. I'm in love with somebody who I've met online and I worry about whether the relationship will work. Does she love me back or not is the main problem. She says she does, but it's a long-distance relationship (she's in Australia) that is interfering with my sleep patterns and causing havoc with my life. I don't know whether to carry on with her and if there's any future in it, but it's making me irritable and taking over my life. Maybe I'm just not cut out for long distance love affairs. Or any kind of love affair come to think of it. What do you suggest I do to try and get my life and my sleep back to normal?

Long distance relationships are tough. My wife and I met in Prague – I was living in England and she was in the US. We had the long distance relationship thing going for about 4 years before we got married. I know what you're going through. If the relationships is meant to work, it will. If not, it won't. Sounds oversimplified, but I think it rings true.

To get your sleep life back to normal, I'd recommend speaking with your doctor. You might also want to trawl these forums or make some new posts in the insomnia forum about your insomnia to see what other members suggest. Our blog also has lots of information.

                Good luck.

                  Thanks.

I agree; if it's meant to work, it will.

Welcome, Dave. Sorry to hear your insomnia has resurfaced in light of this stress. I agree with you and Martin though, if it's meant to work, it will. I had a long distance relationship with someone from England that worked for several months…until it did not. But on the other hand, I had a five year relationship with another person that worked just fine and was in fact, my longest relationship. So…you never know. 🙂
