Hi everyone.
I'm Michelle. I just got approved to join your group today. I've been having some real difficulty with insomnia lately. I mean, I've always had it to some extent, but not like it is now. I pretty much expect every night to be sleepless now. When I do manage to drug myself up enough to get a decent 4 or 5 hour stretch of sleep, I usually struggle with the grogginess and hangover from the medicine and remain completely useless for the whole day. I sleep excellent during the day of course, while the rest of the world goes about their normal routines. It doesn't even really bother me to sleep my life away, but unfortunately the live-in boyfriend who supports me financially doesn't agree with the concept and continues to make me feel worthless and guilty if he catches me asleep during daytime hours.
I guess I came here looking for some advice, but mostly just emotional support. I need to know that there are other people out there like me who are just absolutely EXHAUSTED and feel like some of those people might tell me I'm not lazy and worthless.
That's it for now guys. Thanks for having me in your group. 🙂
January 10, 2012 at 3:53 am #13524Hi Michelle,
sorry to hear about your insomnia and the resulting problems with your boyfriend. First of all, it seems that you need to reset your internal clock. If you sleep during the day after a sleepless night, of course you are not going to be tired at night. What you need to do after a sleepless night, is to stay awake during the day, so that you are really tired at night.
It requires some discipline on your part to stay awake during the day, but with some willpower you will be able to handle it.
Let us know how it goes.

January 10, 2012 at 7:34 am #13525Hi Michelle, welcome to the forum.
Firstly I think you need to have serious words with that boyfriend of yours. He really isn't being very sympathetic is he by making you feel worthless and guilty for daring to sleep during the day. It's not your fault you can't sleep. If you had a little emotional support from him that would be nice.
Is there anything at the back of your mind worrying you? Can you pinpoint when this started?
Have you ever tried relaxation CD's? There is a wonderful web site that sells such things. I have quite a few of them, and it is some of the most beautiful relaxing music you will ever listen too. I'll pm you the address. It's worth a try.
🙂
