Hi I am new and a terrible sleeper. I guess I'm a bit lazy when it comes to improving my sleep behaviour. I enjoy reading about insomnia and appreciate how others suffer the same but would sooner take a sleeping tablet than make the effort to fix it naturally. I don't take a sleeping tablet every night but probably 3-4 times a week depending on my worries and anxiety (which appears much more prevalent at night). It's as if I get a break from worrying about going to sleep when I give myself permission to take a sleeping pill.

Hi Martin, thank you for all your wonderful and helpful information on insomnia. I have struggled with sleep problems since 14. Nothing in particular triggered it. Back then at 14 it developed into more of an anxiety to fall asleep so I wouldn't/couldn't and became a vicious circle. Over the years it has certainly improved at times and worsened at others. Currently, much older, it appears to be triggered by worry. I worry a lot about stuff that is not that bad in the morning. It affects me falling asleep and then staying asleep as I regurgitate the same information all night (even in my dreams).

Craig50, you are really nice to be encouraging others like that. It can only be a good thing to be encouraged.
