      Hi There,

      I'm new to this forum. I joined last night as I was having a typical sleepless jag and was looking up “Help for Insomnia”.

      I have chronic primary insomnia (have been an insomniac all my life but it has gotten worse since entering my 40's).

      I live in Southern California with my wonderful husband and a cuddly 18 year old tabby cat. I hope to learn how others

      deal with their insomnia now that I'm not sleeping at all about one to three times a week. THANKS!

          Hi Restlesssheep!

          I am new too. and I just turned forty. I am having a very bad bout of insomnia myself but think it is more to do with dropping my habit of trazadone use than the big 4 OH. But I have heard insomnia can get worse with age- yay- something eles to look forward to as I enter into my fifth decade 😮

          I have OCD and anxiety and that really contributes to my sleepless nights. I nap throughout the day and I know that does not help but even if I force myself to stay awake and be active all day I still find myself awake quite often with thoughts racing thru my head. For me, I need clonazapan to help with the anxiety tho I have built up a reisitance to a lot of the effectiveness.( I am also on a small dose of paxil- doc wants me to up the dosage but I hate hate hate the side effects -but, unfortunately, after trying almost all the other SSRI drugs out there paxil works the best for my OCD) I also do some cognitive techniques to help relax my brain- like envisioning ” happy places” and such and sometimes that helps.
