High energy lvl during a night

      Hi all. Simple question from ym observation.

      In the past of my insomnia experience i strugle with high energy lvl during night and very low energy during a day. I can be full wake up for 3 days and every night a was more wake up and aware then during a day, in the work, home etc.

      To this day i still experience this fenomen even after like 6 months of no problem with falling asleep and sleeping 4 – 6,5 hours per night.

      I think its because at night i have time for myself (no work, wife, child) and that create excitement and happines which is bound to it.

      Its not a huge problem. But because of it its hard to get sleepy earlier for building my sleep window wider (more then 6 hours)…

      So the questions is. How do you manage this exicetement???

        I am having a similar problem. At some point during the night I’ll feel sleepy and then try to sleep and struggle at times. After not being able to sleep for awhile on those tough nights I’ll suddenly be wired. Recently I started taking walks in the morning and that seems to help tire me out. I

          I think the most important thing to address this is going to bed and waking up the exact same time each day. Your mind gets used to the idea that bedtime is not the time for ideation and excitement, but the time for sleep.

            Thank you for the reply back I appreciate it. I get sleep for the most part. Like last week I slept good but this week not so much. I’m trying to get on a schedule. Been walking everyday which I think helps I haven’t tried mediation I’ll have to try that. This is all new to me. This was sprung on me in the last few weeks.

              On the days you got like 4 hours sleep how do you stay away to stay on schedule? Or do you go to sleep when you feel tired? Does it throw you off track? Thanks again for your help and feedback

                Great question. I don’t sleep when I feel tired. I only sleep during my sleep window, which over time helps your brain understand when you are to be asleep and when to be awake. If I have insomnia and only get 4 hours of sleep, I will do everything I can to stay active and just struggle through the day. Sometimes it’s horrible. I avoid caffeine, since this is borrowed energy that makes you feel like crap a few hours later and then effects your sleep later that night. If I’m sitting around at night feeling ready to fall asleep before my bedtime, I’ll actually do some push ups or take a walk in the cold air. By the time my bedtime rolls around, I’ll usually sleep very well. I used to try to take naps and adjust my wake and bed times; however, this just made my insomnia much worse. I’ve learned as an insomniac that I need to have really good structure around my sleep habits. Anytime I break that structure, I suffer from insomnia. I hope this helps.
