I’ve been sleeping amazingly for maybe 2 weeks, my body just fall asleep quickly and I believe nothing wrong with my sleep ability but recently this thought pops up and say “what if we just thinking about sleep or monitoring sleep like what we used to do?” and then I’m worrying about it but I prove that I can still sleep even tho those bad thought pops up but then the next day I’d still worry about it, especially in the afternoon and evening.

Is this completely normal and how to overcome it?

Yup. That’s normal. It still happens to me. But I’ve learnt to see these as my overprotective brain pinging me with useless crap. It’s trying to make me fear poor sleep again and fall back into the loop of insomnia all over again.

But I’m better equipped this time, I ain’t falling for that trick again. Simply because I don’t care even if I sleep poorly again. It doesn’t mean anything except I slept poorly for one or two nights. Are you going to worry for the rest of your life just because you bang your toes once? Or will you worry about eating again because you had a case of food poisoning? These feelings are very fluid and they change all the time so it’s pointless to entertain them.

Thank you for giving me another perspective, I just needed to hear it, especially from people like us that have been struggle with insomnia.

Anyway I’d say the only struggle I have left is that thought and everything feels like normal again, well in the morning I don’t even think about sleep because I know there’s nothing to worry or that it could kill me, and I find myself worrying other things that the old me used to worry, I guess I’m really close to love my bed and sleep again.

Bothered by insomnia and sleep thoughts? You never rush to get rid of it. You just leave it alone until it leaves you alone. Hope that makes sense.

Your problem-solving brain is doing its job and looking out for you! You get to decide how to respond to such thoughts. One option is simply acknowledging and thanking your brain for what it’s saying. Nothing more is needed 🙂
