This is my 1st post. 2 1/2 months ago I hurt my arm, ruptured my deltoid muscle and probably other damage to arm, I’m a bit of a worryer and still worry even though I try not to this is causing me to get less and less sleep. I try every night to sleep without tablets but it gets later and later and I need to be up for work at 6:30am so decide to take a sleeping tablet which normally helps me sleep but I want to do it without these.
I will be looking forward to hearing some stories and tips. At this time with covid 19 I feel very alone, I couldn’t even go to the doctor’s about my arm, they told me it was my bicep tendon come off which it’s not. Anyway thanks for reading if you have read this far.

It’s not unusual to experience sleep disruption after such an injury! Usually, sleep recovers as we adapt to the initial trigger of sleep disruption or, in your case, as you start to heal from your injury. If you continue to struggle, it’s almost always because the way we think about sleep changes — and also, we often implement behaviors in a bid to improve our sleep that actually perpetuate the problem.

I suspect that you’ll find it very helpful to implement cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) techniques. Is this something you’ve tried or discussed with your doctor?
