hyper-arousal: how to break the cycle?

      Hi All, I am new here, I started to have insomnia 6 weeks ago, my problem is that I have difficulties falling asleep. In the last 8 days I had only a few hours of sleep, also the medication I took did not help. I feel that now my body is in the hyper-arousal mode with high level of the stress hormones, which likely make it more difficult to fall asleep. I am scared, is there any way to break this cycle and get out of the hyperarousal state without medications?
