As for hypnosis, it's not something I come across frequently in my research.
That being said, I'll put this question out in the next insomniac bulletin and we'll see if any other members chime in with their experiences.

October 30, 2012 at 9:14 pm #14201Hi! I've never really held with hypnosis, so I have no advice on that front. I have playlists of music that have a certain pitch and tone to them that help to shut off parts of my brain and make it a little easier to sleep.
October 31, 2012 at 1:18 am #14202I tried acupuncture for about 6 weeks once…and it did absolutely nothing for me but drain my wallet. Not recommended. I found it suspiciously hokey and unscientific…maybe it's one of those things where if you WANT it to work, and believe it will work….it works. But it didn't work for me.
I had moderate success with SleepTracks…when used religiously as part of a cognitive behavioral therapy regime. I still use the tracks on occasion for afternoon “naps” (they don't really help me fall asleep…just sort of mellow me out). But when I was using them religiously, along with all the other CBT crap, I experienced moderate success.
October 31, 2012 at 1:47 am #14203I could not afford accupuncture during the year that I had insomnia, so I cannot comment on it. I do know that I tried alternatives such as HTTP, and other homeopathic approaches. And I do know that my insomnia has been brought under control. “knock on wood”. For me, insomnia is a scary thing to talk about, but I want you to know that you can become a stronger person if you realize certain things about it. Namely: Be very careful in you choices and do not allow your choices to be influenced by you condtion. Please understand I am not instructing you, but warning you. You can be stronger due to you experience with this condtion or you can become weaker. I truly believe you can become stronger. WATCH YOUR CHOICES !!
October 31, 2012 at 1:54 am #14204Have tried self hypnosis. Pretty much just rela
xes me. Also helps stop my mind from racing. I'm brand new to the forum and really just starting to actively seek help. Once the Can't Close My Eyes Bug gets hold of me sometimes it just has to run its course. Probably couldn't do that if I were still struggling to hold down a job.
Best of luck n I hope you find the right answer for you soon.
October 31, 2012 at 3:35 am #14205Hi,

October 31, 2012 at 9:42 am #14206I've not tried hypnosis, I dnt think I'm one of the people that would be easily susceptible to it, but if presented the opportunity I would definitely try it, I just watched this show, Curiosity, and the idea on this show was 'brainwashing' through hypnosis, so they rounded up about 180 people for this test, about 16 made it through and 4 eventually, after suspicions of people just playing along kinda thing, anyways what they were being hypnotized to do was make an assassination attempt, they had several scientists and cameras going to somewhat validate this experiment, only 1 out of the last 4 made it through to the last test, which was the assassination attempt, the 1st test was for the subjects to abandon a social norm, so they were hypnotized to disrobe in public, the 2nd test was the cold water immersion test, filled a tub with ice and water, it was 35 degrees and they had emt's on the scene, were hooked up to machines to monitor their breathing and heart rate, and the idea was could the hypnotic mind override what was happening physically and believe they were in a hot tub with warm water, only 1 passed, the other 3 only lasted a few seconds, and in the final assassination test, they had the guy believe he failed the experiment, so as they were 'saying goodbye' the hypnosis guy told him there was a diplomat in the building, he was a bad guy, when he gets outside there's gonna be a gun in a backpack and when he sees the guy, he's gonna shoot him 3times, and he did it, and didn't recall any of it, until the guy hypnotized him to get his memory back, anyhow, if power of hypnosis is this strong, then I'm sure it can be used to get sleep, I mean I just saw a guy go against his character and shoot some guy, so sleeping seems like a much easier thing to hypnotize somebody into,I don't know haha just sharing what I just saw on the science channel.
November 1, 2012 at 12:27 pm #14207I tried hypnosis and it worked for me. I saw a hypnotherapist who also gave me a cassette/cd to take home with me to listen to. After having no sleep for ages, I had a few hours the first night and it built up gradually so I get a good night's sleep now.
Personally I would recommend it.
November 1, 2012 at 6:09 pm #14208hey people thank you for your thoughts, its really interesting to read about your experiences
i went to an acupuncturist here, the guy is a native chinese and he told me his price:
1800USD for 15 sessions for weight loss and insomnia, i think its way too expensive.. if someone know how much cost in your area, please share.
also i went to a hypnotist, its 400USD for 3 sessions
i want to try hypnosis but i am too skeptical about things, maybe thats why sleeptracks is not doing it for me.
and i tried before some sleep hypnosis audios but it didnt work.
