I have been sleeping good for months but now I know dont get complacent. I will probably always fear I might not be able to sleep but know now I will sleep eventually.

All of a sudden a couple of nights ago I got the time mixed up and fell asleep an hour early and thought no I will just stay up and watch a little more TV. Then I was wired up and wide awake. Lesson learned when sleepy go to sleep. The the next night I had some trouble with my car and got aggitated and woke up about 3am and had fragmented sleep until 6am.

I know at times there will be bad nights which suck but now got back on track and sleeping well again.

Hi sleep, I think that is a really good insight–that even if sleep generally improves, that nobody sleeps great every night. Wired from TV, car trouble, or who knows why sometimes.

When it happens to me, I try to figure out why I didn’t sleep well but I don’t spend a lot of time on it. Just happens sometimes. Then I figure that I am more likely to feel overwhelmed or irritable today, maybe just observe that rather than get swept up in it.

And that I may well sleep better tonight, probably will, but if I don’t, I have been down this road before. Not ideal, but I can handle it.

Thanks hiker for your reply. Yes, I have been sleeping good since I posted. Things do happen in life and I dont sleep good at times. I have to accept that. I guess I will always have that fear of sleeping once having insomnia. But the difference is I dont have to be scared to death, I eventually will sleep just like I will eventually get hungry. At one time I was scared I would not be able to sleep and got wired up. I was scared to go on vacation, afraid of not sleeping.
I dont have that fear any more thank goodness. Listening to Martin made a big difference.

I hate you and others have experienced insomnia but it is good to not be alone. You and all the others do understand.
