My doctor mentioned a sleep clinic. what ever that is.

A sleep clinic is where they hook you up to wires and cameras and watch you sleep. They figure out why you are having problems staying asleep and even getting to sleep. I've been through on once and I hated it. But my psychiatrist wants me to do one again and actually finish the set of sessions. EEK. I might do it but I'm trying to avoid it if possible. But I guess I should do it if this new medicine I'm on doesn't work. I haven't picked it up from the pharmacy yet. I'll pick it up today.

Sleep clinics are also used to see if you have sleep apnea and other sleep disorders.

Not been on for a while, sorry guys.

Lena and I split up so had a lot going on in my life recently and not been feeling up to talking about stuff, and I seem to do nothing but sleep or else I'm not in house. Sorry guys.

Hope everyone is ok. I will become more active again soon though, I promise!

Oh no it does not hurt at all. They use like EKG pads that stick to your skin really well. They put them all over your head and body. Makes your hair nasty and gooey because they add gel of some sort to the pads for your head.

They also put a band around your waist to see how many times you breathe and or quit breathing during the night to see if you have sleep apnea. It's just a pain in the butt. To hook you up to all of that it takes like 45 minutes. Then you lay in bed on your back trying to get to sleep (if you can even get to sleep)… It sucks. That's why I haven't done it again.

No it's not painful at all. They are ekg pads that hook up to wires that hook up to machines.

And if you have to get up to go to the bathroom they can see that you are awake (if they are paying attention) and you usually can just speak “hey I need to go to the bathroom” or press some button as they are listening. The place I went to had a microphone or two in the room so all I had to do was speak and they would hear me. They said they have mics to hear you breathe, like to see if you snore. There was an infrared camera mounted in the cieling so you are being watched the whole night. Creepy if you ask me. I hate being watched.

I'm sorry to hear that! It's never easy.

I seem to be doing the too much sleep routine for a while now, even before my surgery. It's as if now that I *can* sleep, my body wants to make up for lost time–and my mind is likely in avoidance mode. Sigh.

I do hope we'll see you around more, though.

They used superglue to put the leads on when I had mine. Bleah.

                  Especially for a side sleeper!

Not painful, but for someone whose skin gain goes up past 10 on the dial, they felt like they were poking me all over–and TWO cannulae up my nose (I was so lucky!) were very uncomfortable for someone who wants only smooth textures around me when I want to sleep. I was aware of all of them the entire time.

Ack! You live in Dundee, nowhere near Glasgow. Other side of the island, and farther north. Coastal town–I love them.
