i swear to you, i thought i was improving. i took the clock out of my room, i stopped reading in there, i tried to quiet my mind. for about 30 days this worked. i was sleepy at night, i got up in the morning, i didn't take any naps. i was going good, for about a month, it was all very weird for me since i hadn't had this much rest in like, YEARS. i was surprised and happy, though a little leery wondering what was happening – but mostly happy 🙄
then, out of nowhere, last week it started right back up. i'm not sleepy at night anymore, i'm up till 3 or 4 in the morning trying to sleep and i'm still trying to force myself awake in the AM to keep looking for a job (as one recruiter at the GDOL said “if you aren't applying for jobs in the morning, you don't want a job.” so i took some advil PM (which i'd STOPPED taking) and…nothing happened. it didn't even make me marginally sleepy, in fact, i took those pills and was up for 24 hours. tried some zquil (nyquil minus the supposed healing effects for a cold) – only a few hours, if that.
what happened? i think my stress levels just went through the roof.

Sorry to hear that your insomnia has sneakily crept back up on you!!
Seeing as traffic on the forum is a bit light at the moment, I've just started a new thread called Insomnia 2013 – Hey there! How are y'all coping?

And don't despair – I'm sure this is just a brief glitch in your sleep patterns – you will be back in positive territory soon!
See you round!

January 17, 2013 at 9:58 pm #14573That's quite odd that your sleep suddenly disappeared on you.
On a positive note, you now know that you are more than capable of sleep since you went through a great period of natural and fulfilling sleep.
I suspect that your concern about being able to sleep naturally once again added stress to your sleep routine, making sleep difficult once again.
Look – you now that you can sleep. Stop putting pressure on yourself to sleep. Lie in bed and relax. See what happens.

January 23, 2013 at 3:25 pm #14575Hi Deanka,
Sleep is such a strange thing…!
And yeah, stress is a huge sleep killer, I think!
Since the forum is a little quiet at the moment, I'm trying to gather people together in the “Insomnia 2013” thread, so we get a bit more conversation and discussion going 😉
Come by if you like! 🙂

March 12, 2013 at 5:12 pm #14576How are you doing lately deanka?
March 18, 2013 at 9:28 pm #14577well, now that I've started a new job working the graveyard shift it's been…more of the same actually. when i get off work i get on the computer looking for a daytime job, since this one is only temporary and i'm just up until i fall asleep. i can maybe get 4 hours before i'm wide away again. i get sleepy at work like on a daily basis. i stopped taking pills cause i was taking them everyday and i wanted off. I've tried zzzquil, but it only worked the first time and it doesn't do it anymore. i'm exhausted really. the only time i feel like i can get any real sleep is on Saturday cause its my day off and i know it doesn't matter how long i sleep cause i don't have anywhere to be.
March 19, 2013 at 1:08 am #14578Are you off the sleeping pills altogether now? If you are, and are managing 4 hours of sleep then that's progress – you are heading in the right direction!

March 19, 2013 at 3:52 am #14579Glad your off the pills. Are you able to sleep without any probs on saturdays? Could be proof you CAN sleep.
March 20, 2013 at 7:30 pm #14580i'm not off the pills altogether, but i'm getting there…slowly but surely. my sleep pattern on saturdays varies, sometimes i can sleep without difficulty, and sometimes i have issues with just waking up and getting out of bed knowing i don't have to anywhere on saturday and i don't have to work that night.
March 21, 2013 at 11:30 pm #14581Sounds like maybe your sleep is really affected by your work schedule. have you tried sticking to a strict schedule even when you dont have to work?
March 22, 2013 at 9:35 pm #14582i try that, but it doesn't always work, it's like my body knows it doesn't have to be anywhere so it tries to sleep all day
