After battleling insomnia for 17 years, so many Dr’s, so many different medications, practically destroying my professional and personal life…..I now sleep! I feel reborn…I wasn’t under a Dr’s care, this time so is this a place to share? I would like others to feel what I feel now…

        Hello!
Great to hear. So what did you do? I did nothing, and just went to bed and got out at the same time every day. With Martin’s guidance and advice, of course. But I now know, I really didn’t need anything else other than a regular bedtime schedule.

Are my replys goint be to one person or visible to all? It’s a long story and much more in depth than just going to bed at the same time. This may be the wrong forum…

Everyone will be able to see your posts. But of course, it’s their choice whether to respond. Maybe nobody is interested. There’s nothing complex about sleep either that can’t be explained in a few sentences so I am not sure what kind of insights you want to share here. Sleep is just sleep, it works like hunger, it gets stronger the longer you go without it. And it works like a timetable, ie, if people go to bed at consistent hours, they tend to get sleepy by a consistent time also. And that’s all there is to it! It’s not complicated at all, in fact the more anyone tries to make it so, the worse it gets

If you’ve experienced insomnia for any length of time, you likely understand how anticipatory anxiety can lead to poor sleep. When I anticipate not having a good night sleep, lo and behold it becomes true. As I’ve said in other posts, I believe insomnia is a complex problem and finding causation and correlation is difficult. But what seems to be at the root of it is anxiety. Trying to lasso that tiger has been my most enduring challenge. Beyond that, there are other factors in play, some we have control over and some we don’t. However, I believe that we can improve our sleep, no matter what factors are at play and we should accept there will be times when we don’t sleep well. And that’s just reality.
