      Okay…glad I found this. I’ve read some posts and it feels good to know I’ve found some fellow insomniacs. It can be frustrating as no one else seems to be able to understand. I’ve told my wife and son that I need to keep them awake for 90+ hours straight just once so they can understand.

      I recall this starting when I was as young as 7. Staring at the ceiling all night. I never feel like I’m stressed or anxious, just that I’ve got stuff to think about. My mind is very busy.

      I can miss a full night’s sleep with minimal reduction in performance. After being awake for 48 hours straight, though, things start getting tough. I’ll get stupid, confused, and start having auditory hallucinations. When I’m around white noise, I’ll hear music in a fan…often elaborate, realistic music.

      Day three is painful. Literally.
