Haven’t slept proper for 20 years! Am fit and healthy 48 yr old. Since I stopped drink and drugs in 1999 I cannot sleep and also suffer anxiety always based around breathing/ panic attack’s. I take small dose of diazepam (10mg) and it’s not helping anymore! I also believe I’m suffering from tolerance withdrawal! I literally might have 2 hours a night if I’m luck and then I wake up with breathless type anxiety! If you looked at me you prob wouldn’t think I’m an insomniac! As I look half decent! My sleep hygiene is very poor!!! Has anyone got any similarities or advice please?
      Thanks

Hello Leo and welcome to the forum.

First of all, it’s important to recognize that you CAN sleep! It would be impossible for you to be here and typing out your post if you hadn’t slept since 1999!

Ultimately, if you have chronic insomnia the best way to improve your sleep for the long term is to implement cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) techniques.

Nothing in your post makes me think that you wouldn’t find CBT-I helpful, Is this something you’ve ever tried?
