      How do you start the restriction when you are on a new antidepressant and have been taking an anti-anxiety med in the evening for a while? You can’t just stop that evening med cold turkey and starting sleep restriction, you don’t want to start weaning. Any suggestions?

        Also, my question is, I usually read before bed. Is this something I do not do in bed? I have always read, till sleepy, then fell asleep.

          Why not implement the techniques while continuing with your medication? There’s no need to choose one or the other — no ultimatums here!

          If you enjoy reading before bed, there’s no need to stop doing that — we just want to avoid forcing ourselves to stay in bed in an attempt to make sleep happen when being in bed doesn’t feel good.
