Hey
Well it's 3:30am where I am and I am awake again. I downloaded a sleep meditation app earlier and listened to it before I went to bed…. Didnt work tonight but hoping if I continue it will help. I am going to download a few more and see what they are like too, I am willing to try anything!
I am so glad I am not alone in the crankiness dept…yesterday was a bad day for being moody but I am almost wore out.
Well going to continue laying here, listen to my new app and try and get myself back to sleep!
Night,
Monkey 🙂
January 24, 2013 at 9:47 am #14598Hey Monkey,
How did your night end up going? Did you get any rest?
(Oh, that's something I forgot to say yesterday – if you find that you can't get SLEEP – then try and give your brain and body as much REST that night as you can… you will feel the benefit of at least having had deep rest compared with a night spent tossing and turning and in anxiety about insomnia…)
How did your morning go?
Very curious to hear your thoughts and observations re your sleep or lack of it and on waking up.
Hope you have an easy day and you cope well despite having gotten less sleep than you would have wanted…

January 24, 2013 at 9:57 am #14599Hi Both

Will have to make this short and sweet as I had a lovely post started then someone came in and being the dedicated person I am I had to cut off whilst helping out at work and then my flaming message went into the ether and is not to be seen again !
Keep supporting each other until I chan chip in officially once at home . . . after tea in he local pub as we couldn't get enough shopping in because of the snow . . . any old excuse for an alcholic tea !
Take care . . . . keeeeeeeep talking and post soon

The rest of the night didnt go so well, laid there till the alarm went off…. Might have dozed off a little somewhere between 4:30 ish and 5:20. Woke up completely exhausted and a headache and grumpy but the description of tired ted with her cheerleader outfit on made me smile 🙂 well it's time for me to get to work.
Enjoy your day or night depending on where you both are 🙂
January 26, 2013 at 4:32 am #14601Hey Monkey,
what a cute pic you have uploaded!!
Sorry I've not replied earlier – I had way too much work to do and then have also had to spend today at the vet's with a pet, so it's been a bit hectic.
How has this night and the last gone?
Are you feeling a little calmer about the sleep issue?
Are you finding you are able to rest, if you can't sleep?
Have you come up with any projects to do if you can't sleep?
Look forward to hearing all your news!

January 26, 2013 at 6:36 am #14602Hi both
Well I am having a right GRUMY DRAWERS start to the day as I probably had tooooo much sleep again ( could be something to do with tooooo much vino with last nights Chinese ! ) and I have a headache which I thought was sleep related but again . . . Vino me thinks !!
I love your photo M0NK3Y it looks like a very sweet dreamy sleepy monkey . . . I feel very much like my photo today and I feel a very decadent pamper meditation and snooze session coming on this afternoon. I like to treat myself to this on a Saturday as I can't have a slight snooze in the week now I am back at work !
I hope you both have a relaxing Saturday and get some peaceful sleep in the bank.
Tired Teddy with a twist of Grumpy Drawers !
January 29, 2013 at 1:47 pm #14603Hey
Thanks I thought it was a appropriate pic 🙂
My weekend sleep was really good!! Then Sunday came and its was back to being up every hour. Not sure what changed other then my hubby was home (we work seperate shifts so 5 days a week i get the bed to myself) he went back to work sunday night and i didnt sleep well but last night was his night and he was home again and my sleep was worse so I don't think it matters whether i have the bed to myself or not.
Each night is different, I am not sure which nights I dislike the most the ones were I am up for a few hours or the nights where I wake up 10 times, which is Long enough to be awake for maybe 5 min then back to sleep.
I have Downloaded a sleep meditation app which I listen to, to go to sleep and a relaxing music app which I have been turning on if I happen to be awake for longer then 5 min. The one I Listen to before bed I find is calming, but I don't really have a problem falling asleep it's the staying asleep. Since I had pretty good sleep over the weekend haven't had a chance to try out the music one.
All in all my weekend was a good one, I am doing some academic upgrading so I can go hopefully get into college for the fall so most of it was doing homework and some baking, I love to cook 🙂
Hope everything went alright at the vet's.
January 29, 2013 at 1:49 pm #14604Just seen your post tired Ted, hope your weekend got better! Not sure which is worse too much sleep or hardly none!
Talk to you'd later,
Sleep Monkey 🙂
January 31, 2013 at 9:51 pm #14605Hi M0NK3Y
First of all . . . I am soooo sorry for the delay in my reply. I have been waiting to get to a computer with a proper keyboard to reply as I find my iPad great for surfing the net and reading messages but terrible for replying at times like now when I am so tired I can't keep my eyes open. Plus I am a trained typist so it still feels alien to not touch type !
I am still having real trouble keeping my eyes open and when that happens I spend ages correcting my typing mistakes! Anyway . . . I never seem to remember to send you a reply when I am on a proper computer so I am going to do a quick reply now as I am very conscious that I promised to be here to help you through insomnia and haven't !
I am so pleased to hear your sleep got a bit better at the weekend . . . Do you think your sleep problem could be due to anxiety about going to work, or being able to feel awake enough to cope at work as your sleep was so much better at the weekend ?
I like baking too but daren't bake too much as I eat it and and would put even more weight on !
Have you signed up for Martins free 2 week course ? It really worked for me and Groggy . . . so much so that now I can't seek to keep awake !
Oh well I will close now as my eyes are going again and I have only been awake 20 minutes !
Take care and post to you soon

February 2, 2013 at 10:39 am #14606Hi all
I've been off-line for the week, doing stupidly huge amounts of work… At least insomnia hasn't been bothering me, which is great – I've been so exhausted that I've either slept from exhaustion, or if I couldn't sleep, I just kept working (I work freelance, so that's an option) until I fell asleep…
Spent yesterday (my first day off in 8 days) pretty much sleeping/ eating/ walking about the appartment like a zombie…
Feeling a bit more “normal” again today and must do the most urgent of the week's not-done cleaning today…
Still not feeling brain-awake enough for communicating yet, so I will keep this short and make a better attempt later in the day.
But just wanted to say hi to you and let you know that I've not absconded and am not being rude and neglectful, just working crazy hours…

February 2, 2013 at 10:27 pm #14607Hey!
Hope everyone's week was good. I think work may be part of the problem or all of the problem but I will find out, I gave my 2 week notice yesterday. It's been a while coming just needed to have a plan and a another job before I did it. I have started Martin's sleep therapy and so far I think it has helped still wake up during the night but I have not been as stressed about it or up half the the night … Listening to a sleep meditation before bed I think has helped too because I am relaxed.
Hope you are having a good weekend 🙂

February 3, 2013 at 5:27 am #14608Great to hear you have started Martins sleep therapy and I hope you get as much out of it as I did.
Congratulations on getting a new job . . . when do you start ? What type of work do you do ? I am an administrator and used to take work home and could never switch off and then I had a problem with my health and didn't get treated very well by my work place and I have changed my attitude now. I couldn't sleep for pain when I laid down . . . It wasn't agony but it was enough to stop me getting to sleep, unless I was exhausted. This is when my insomnia started and it then got worse when I had to take injections to help with my problems and one of the injection side effects is insomnia. I had a real problem getting a diqgnosis due to negligent care by my local health care provider and this led a long delay in getting a treatment plan and my work place took no diagnosis to mean no medical illness and I was extremely disappointed in the way I was treated. This treatment made me evaluate my work ethic and I now go to work to do my job and come home and switch off, which has made a world of difference to my life. I still work hard but I don't stress if I can't get something done now and it just has to wait until tomorrow . . . Thers one reason to be happy for the rough time I have had recently . . . I have always been a believer that everything happens for a reason but it isn't easy to see this when things are not going well.
I am sleeping too much now and can't seem to keep awake early evening but I am putting it down to my body catching up on its lost sleep and not worrying about it . . . Not sure if I prefer too much, or not enough sleep !
Take care and enjoy the rest of your weekend

February 3, 2013 at 12:20 pm #14609Hey there,
I'm slowly nearing consciousness again. Have been sleeping for most of the weekend. Not much sleep hygiene going on this week.
The week was totally ridiculous, workload-wise and I was so happy that my period wasn't going to kick in til after the week was done, but now that I'm in pre-menstrual sluggish/ feeling down mode, I'm feeling a bit hard done by, that the “reward” for a work of stupidly hard work is a pre-menstrual weekend… d'oh!
I've not been sticking to my sleep hygiene plan of getting up at 6am – the last few days sleep was so precious that I took whatever I could get, whenever.
I hope to start the 6am routine again as of tomorrow tho. It seemed to help quite well.
Keep doing the good insomnia work that you guys are doing!

February 5, 2013 at 10:37 pm #14610Hi all,
How's your sleeping going?
I'm not much good at sticking to sleep hygiene at the moment… but I'm doing quite well at night using that stuff I learned in Neuro-Feedback re shifting down gears one by one until you get drowsy enough to go to sleep, so I've not been struggling so much to get to sleep and not struggling so much to get up in the mornings either.
It's an unusual feeling for me, to not have sleep (or the lack of it) be one of the top 3 issues in my life… Right now, sleep is pretty much “just sleep”!
Still can't believe that Martin's 14 day email course and the massive support from Tired Teddy have had such an impact on my insomnia! It sounds too good to be true, really! But there you have it…
Monkey – are you finding those emails as helpful as we have? I love that you have found a new job and hence can kiss your previous job goodbye. If it has been contributing to your insomnia then well done for having the determination to find better work!!
Well, I am having a short break from work… I did so much work the past weeks, so much overtime and working through on weekends… So I've accrued a lot of “weekend” days and hours off and now I am having them all in one go… That's the cool bit about working freelance – often being able to time your breaks as needed…
So I am busy getting all the housework done (which is surprisingly soothing at the moment – I'm usually someone who hates housework, but maybe getting enough sleep at the moment helps in that regard too??) and getting lots of rest and catching up on lots of stuff generally.
So yeah, things are quite peaceful here at the moment – long may that continue!!
Anyway I hope y'all are well and sleeping just as you'd wish to.

February 6, 2013 at 11:41 pm #14611Ooh, *$&#-ing Facebook…
Just got a really dumb/ annoying message from a friend, to which I replied annoyed… which means we've just had a spat a close to midnight…And now
it's already half past midnight and I'm at home, adrenaline and cortisol coursing through my veins.
That's no good for sleep hygiene, now is it? I think I will watch some TV to try and calm myself down…
Ugh, honestly!!
I mean, I know I must behave in a way that strikes others as dumb and/ or annoying too, often enough.Bzut
But I guess cos you think you're doing your best, it never feels that way, really.
Ah, anyway, don't think I'm making much sense here…
I just wanted to say that it's quite hard to sleep at night, when people start up late-night fights…
