      Hello,

I have been suffering from insomnia for 8 years. Was effecting my life in every way. I have been told that my sleeping problems are that serious that I will get heart attack in early age. About a year ago I have been prescribed by GP antidepressants to help me with my insomnia. It helped me and after 6 months I started to be sleeping over the night but I felt like on hangover every single day. Also I had symptoms like upset stomach ..

      I decided to withdraw antidepressants.

It has been 3 weeks now and my insomnia is back. I don’t want to go back on antidepressants.

Is there anything else I can do?

          Hey,

          Thanks for reply.

Im not getting sleep at all. I’m awake all night. Going to bed every day in the same time and I’m getting up in the same time in the morning.

          I’m exercising every morning.

I don’t smoke. I drink only occasionally and I don’t drink alcohol before bedtime.

Antidepresant Sertaline 100mg and decreased to 50mg and 3 weeks without taking Sertaline.

          Thank you

            Hi Marta

I am taking sertraline 100mg and it helps to control anxiety which is the main reason for not sleeping.

I have put lots of things that I am doing which are improving my sleep on my post a few days ago. I am trying lots of things which are definitely worth a go. I used to think that I was the only one with it so bad, but now  know there are lots of people suffering too.

You may need to take the odd sleeping pill just to get some rest during the week while you’re putting strategies in place. I did that and if I need to in the future will do again.

let me know how you get on ??

I’ve had bad insomnia for 12 years. I was on 10 mg of Lexapro for most of that time and it really helped. I was able to sleep well every night. But, I always wanted off of it and my doctor and I worked to taper me off of it. I thought CBT I, sleep restriction, or acceptance therapy would help.

My sleep has never been worse than it is now. I’m going back on Lexapro tomorrow. Despite what all the sleep experts say, I now believe some people are just broken and need medication to heal them.

Coming off of Lexapro was the greatest mistake I ever made in my life.

Kenny, if there is a drug that actually helps you, using it (maybe tapering it w your dr) doesn’t sound as bad as no sleep at all.

Nothing outside of actual sleeping pills helps me. I still have hope that this site and Martin can help me. I’m running out of ideas, and my Dr gave up on me already (he told me just that).

                    Hi guys,

Thank you for all the post.

I will go back on Sertaline 50mg tomorrow.

I tried all possible treatments plus therapy in the past a now.

                    Nothing is helping.

                    Just wonder how that happened.

I don’t really have massive problems in my life. Only one insomnia.

Thank you and good luck to all of you.

                      Hello Marta, this is Chris

I have been reading your positive responses to all.

It appears we are all in search, in so many

different ways. We all should have an Exel file with

                      dates, times and drugs/remedies/natural/spiritual,

might help.  My three at present are Melatonin drops,

Valarien drops and a quick easy exercise found here.

I never know how many things I have tried or should

I put down. A warm shower and then some warm milk!

You think with all we do it would not help as well.

I am working on 5 consecutive nights of sleep, and i

                      feel guilty sharing it.
