Hi! For some reason I’ve had insomnia in Fall for the past three years (for around 7 days), and then I snap out of it.

Does anybody else have seasonal insomnia?

Usually when I get insomnia around this time of year, I decide to go the natural route and not take medications. This time I’ve been trying to sleep on my own, and if I can’t around 2am or so, I’ll take zzquil or 1/4th of a Clonazapam (which was prescribed to me for panic attacks/ anxiety) which I have avoided taking at all costs, but it seems to help me fall asleep for a couple hours. I don’t want to become dependent on it.

due to the insomnia I am extremely emotional, anxious, fuzzy headed, and can barely leave my house. I am at my breaking point.

last night I took 1 tablet of Benadryl (bc I’m trying to avoid the clonazapam) and fell asleep for three hours, and calm magnesium powder at 5 am which helped me get an extra hour of sleep.

My anxiety was so bad today due to lack of sleep, that I took 1/4 of a clonazapam (so much for avoiding it).

Im on day 10 or 11. If I can’t sleep tonight, I will probably go to the hospital tomorrow morning.

      Can anybody help me?

Does anything tend to happen around this time of year to trigger your sleep issues, other than the changing of the seasons? Do you feel worry or anxiety about the change of the seasons or the approaching Holiday period?

It sounds as though you would be a good candidate for CBT for insomnia because it is specifically designed to address the sleep-related anxieties and worries that make sleep difficult.

Did you end up going to the hospital? I am not sure how much help they would be able to offer you, but I am curious to know what advice they gave you.
