Hi my name is Stephen I suffer from chronic insomnia for over two years. On Thursday this week I was at my wits end and bought clonazepam and nitrazepam to help me get sleep. The drugs work but three days later now I do not want to take any more as I do not want an addiction. I am frightened now I shall have rebound insomnia and this dehabilitating illness will become immediately worse. I am lucky just now if I get a couple of hours light sleep a night. I have an appointment with the doctors on the 20 of this month and am going to try and get him to direct me to NHS sleep clinics if they exist. I am at wits end. Kind regards.

        Hi @stephen-d!

Welcome to the forum! The anxiety one experiences during their times with insomnia can be debilitating. During my bout with insomnia, I found myself trying every supplement, meditation, night routine, breathing technique, etc and became frustrated and helpless when all those attempts failed. If you’re concerned about creating a sleep medicine addiction and looking for a natural solution for sound sleep, you could benefit from these evidence-based techniques found here: https://insomniacoach.com/cognitive-behavioral-therapy-insomnia/ Have you heard or experimented with these techniques?

        Best of luck!
