My current problem is fearing not being able to sleep. Because of this fear I sometimes can’t sleep all night or it might take 4 or 5 hours to sleep. Not sure if anxiety caused my insomnia or insomnia caused anxiety.

      Any input would be appreciated.

        Hello…
People who have sleep anxiety and trouble sleeping like yourself typically share an identical recovery path. So your case is not unique or uncommon. The most important factors to sleeping well are always:
        1. Go to and get out of bed at consistent times with no sleeping in between. Start by allowing 6 hours and slowly increase that once you feel ready.
        2. Develop the correct mindset. I suggest you read the success stories section to find out what other did. This is very important because mindset determines your behaviors and attitudes.

Like everyone else who has gone through and overcome insomnia, you can do this! Good luck.

          Hey @V23!

Welcome to the forum and posting. You ask a popular question – was it the egg or chicken that came first?! Honestly, it doesn’t matter if anxiety or insomnia came first, because you create a vicious cycle that both feed off each other. If you sleep poorly, you search for answers during the day which leads to heightened anxiousness at night which can lead to poor sleep…and the cycle starts over again. What is it about the idea of not being able to fall asleep that seems to generate that anxiety?

If you’re lying in bed frustrated and anxious about your inability to fall asleep, are you getting out of bed to engage in something more enjoyable – reading, crafting, listening to a podcast, etc?
