Days ago, on monday and suddenly, I was unable to sleep. This happened to me just 1 time (August) But now I m so scared. I was unable to sleep on Monday, like I said, for 38 hours, then I fall asleep almost 6 hours. Today, to be honest, I was anxious only thinking if this gonna happen again, and here I am. Simply I don’t know what’s going on, I was fine, sleeping normal.

Just want to know if a sudden Insomnia can be possible, and what to do to fight with this. When I go to bed, the anxiety that I feel make my heart beats fast thinking that I m going to become crazy, and I just get out of bed and the anxiety is inside me thinking that I will not going to sleep again. Maybe you re going to say that I m crazy, but this new experience make me cry and feel bad.

Please, need advices and your experiences. Could I fight with this? I m so scared and becoming depressed.

      Thank you.

          Hi John,

The same way happen to me a month and 1/2 ago. I am not the one to tell you not to feel that way because I also feel that way sometimes but I have been practicing a meditation called: Autogenic meditation.

Try it out but before you do it you need to learn how to breath properly. Once you manage that, then do the meditation.

I am visiting a Psychologist every week and that helps a lot.

I hope the best for you! have a nice and restful weekend 😉

Hi John. First, let me reassure you that this worry and anxiety isn’t uncommon and can be a normal response to a period of sleeplessness. Unfortunately, when we start to worry about sleep we can make sleep more difficult — and this can trigger a vicious cycle of ever-worse sleep and ever-more worry and anxiety.

Fortunately, this problem occurred relatively recently — so taking steps to address this issue now will make improving your sleep easier compared to allowing your sleep problems to become more entrenched.

If you are not ready to work directly with a sleep coach just yet, I would suggest the following tips:

            1. Try to follow a regular (and appropriate) sleep schedule.

            2. Get out of bed when you are unable to sleep (also known as stimulus control).

            3. Practice relaxation techniques such as meditation — as suggested by xime03 above — and reserve the hour or so before your planned bedtime for relaxing and enjoyable activities.

            I hope this helps.
