      Hello, everyone!

I’m reaching out here because I honestly do not know what to do anymore. I have had issues sleeping for years, however the past two weeks, it’s piqued. I lie in bed, and my body is just AWAKE. No racing thoughts or anxiety, just AWAKE. I may drift off for 2-3 hours, but then im tossing and turning until I finally allow myself to get up at 4 am or so. I am miserable and having difficulties with concentration and focus during the day, and it’s really taking a toll at work.
I have tried everything. I exercise. I eat well. I take melatonin and magnesium and I’ve tried chamomile tea. I’ve done yoga and guided meditations and progressive muscle relaxation. before bed. I keep a worry journal and Igo to therapy. I don’t look at devices an hour before bed. Hell, I even tried a xanax last night for the first time EVER and it didn’t make a dent. I am out of ideas. So if anyone has anything else they can recommend, i would greatly appreciate it. I’m desperate.

        Hi, i also have insomnia.
        Do The therapy help?
        Do you feel stable mentally?
Theres some meds to try, but its hard finding something that works.
Maybe an antipsychotic, they are not first line treat ment.
        Mirtazapine, an antidepressant.
What dose melatonin do you take?

I’ve found obsessing about doing everything right only makes it worse. I’ve done all the things you have including Xanax here and there. I’d try shortening your sleep window.
          No caffeine or nicotine?

Also over exercise can keep your body up too so make sure to take extended breaks

Professional make it sound so simple…to correct your insomnia you need to not obsess or overnight the night sleep ahead but when you been struggling for so long then its easier said than done.
I found personally even when I managed to go to bed relaxed and cool headed and ready to sleep I still manage not to sleep straight away…its like it will never go away.
Then tablets are not the answer …nightmare all round.

Hello priceje. You mentioned in your post that you have tried everything. Have you tried implementing CBT for insomnia techniques such as bedtime restriction and stimulus control?

The way you described your insomnia doesn’t sound unusual, so I have no reason to think that CBT-I techniques wouldn’t be effective at helping you get your sleep back on track.
