I’m so grateful for this forum. I’ve read all the posts and finally feel hopeful.
I have suffered with persistent insomnia for four years. It began when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016. Prior to that I was a great sleeper. The diagnosis brought with it panic attacks, severe anxiety, eventual depression and INSOMNIA.
I have healed from breast cancer. The panic attacks, anxiety and depression have resolved, except for some sleep anxiety. However, the insomnia has not reversed. Last night I slept 2 1/4 hours. I am bleary eyed and exhausted, but trying to learned the CBTI techniques. I spent almost 4 hours awake last night. There have been times when I thought I would lose my mind with this lack of sleep. In fact in February 2019 I was hospitalized for a week after three consecutive nights of no sleep at all and severe anxiety. It was at my very lowest point and I did not see a way out. It was the closest I ever came to even consider making a plan to end it all.
I’ve tried everything known to man, as many of you have, with little results. I stumbled upon CBTI about a week ago and have been watching Martin’s Youtube videos like mad and am working my way through all the podcast episodes.
I am so glad to be here and would appreciate any encouragement and suggestions. I love reading about what has helped you most.
