          Hello dawn1228,

I was on melatonin until recently. I found that it -may- have helped me go to sleep quicker, but I also found that it definitely made me depressed. My mood lifted very considerably when I discontinued it.

I had fair luck with extended release melatonin for a short while. My issue is staying asleep, and it did push me from 2-3 hours to about 5. Was like heaven as long as it lasted. No side effects for me, but already had depression at the time.

I've tried both the slow release melatonin tablets and also the drops, but didn't really find that it helped very much. Apparently you have to be very careful to only use a small amount, because if you take too much it can actually have the opposite effect.
