Not for me. 🙁 Any noise that isn't background noise (like the radiator etc) will keep me awake/ wake me up.

While I was in bed the other night, I had my phone on charge and for some reason the ac/dc was making a squealing noise. The noise reminded of Plug In Baby by Muse and I was up straight away. It's an awesome song, but definitely not a soothing one 🙂

Ach! I can't stand irritating background noises like that. That sounds almost as bad as a dripping tap – drives me around the bend!

When i go to bed,I have to have the tv on as any sound will annoy me from a dripping tap to someone walking past the house.

I have tried all sorts of music from classical to stories to sound machines and nothing.

I like to have my blackberry on silent so I can watch the red light flash..OCD..

that's funny about the blackberry. whatever works! i find that if i'm having a really hard time, i have to hide the clock because if i can see it, i'll obsess about how late it's getting.

I'm the same with the Blackberry. Checking the clock got so bad I've started switching it off completely.

I find listening to Joanna Newsom pretty relaxing (in particular The Milk Eyed Mender). Haven't tried it before bed yet. I've added it to the list.

I use songs as background noise to get to sleep but the really odd thing is the heavier the music the better…how odd!

I often go to sleep listening to Pantera and Ministry on my iPod. 😀

Also, I have a playlist composed of music that has a certain tone and pitch to it that acts like a switch to stop m brain racing. It's weird. It doesn't put me to sleep, but it calms my brain enough to where I can at least try to sleep without a million things going through my head.

Love Joanna to death, but her voice would get under my skin if I tried to listen to her while falling asleep, haha.

I actively listen to music way too much to be able to fall asleep to it. There are exceptions…as long as there is no beat or set meter, I'm golden. “Digital Shades Vol. 1” by M83 is my favorite, for anyone who might benefit from beat-less music.

I recently purchased an iPhone 4 and loaded LOADS of music onto it, as music is a very important thing.

When I am going out anywhere I tend to play things like Eminem, Black Eyed Peas, Rammstein and various others.

Kinda different when I sleep though…if I sleep. Recently Meat Loaf's “Bat Out Of Hell” has been a good one, and last night I listened to Mike Oldfield's “Tubular Bells” and I got a few hours sleep, which was nice.

I guess mood also dictates what will be deemed as relaxing at the time, but with over 1,000 albums to choose from I think I have something that will suit!

I find that neither music or words give me the desired effect o sleep.I tend toget edgy if there is any kind of noise in the room.

Now thats the odd thing…when the room is quiet, it actually hurts…I truly understand what they mean when they say that the silence is deafening.

I like podcasts or spoken word…new ones in general, so my mind stays occupied on the words and not my worries. If there is loud music at some point in the podcast…like at the end… it will wake me up… so I have to edit out the music in iTunes.

I listen to Imogen Heap or Frou Frou. Or movie soundtracks. Very soothing music. Puts me to sleep, well not lately.

I'm currently listening to the likes of Linkin Park and Avenged Sevenfold…it's hit and miss as to if it helps me sleep currently!

No honestly, it's not, I don't suffer tinnitus are anything like that but silence truly really hurts more that I can describe…
