I’ve been having trouble sleeping since March of last year. I’ve been to the doctors, but all they wanna do is give me pills. I’ve tried so many different things that they have prescribed, but each time I seem to get further and further down the rabbit hole of sleeplessness. I’ve also done just about every possible OTC product out there, including several herbs and amino acids. Still, I’m at a loss.

Don’t get me wrong, many of them did get me to sleep, but they weren’t without side effects. Not to mention the possibility of addiction to something. So now, I just switch around between them.

This all started from anxiety about a business deal. I resolved the problem the very next day, but the anxiety persisted. I was unable to go to sleep without help after that.

Unfortunately, as a result of all this, I acquired tinnitus. This makes my anxiety even worse.

I just worry that I won’t be able to fall asleep on my own again.

It’s not unusual for us to experience some sleep disruption when we have stressful moments in our life but when our thoughts and behaviors about our sleep change, then our sleep issues perpetuates. It’s not too surprising you haven’t found medication or OTC supplements helpful since pills don’t address those underlying thoughts and behaviors. If you’re having anxiety about your sleep issue, what is going through your mind? When those anxious thoughts arrive, do you find yourself trying to get rid of them? Why do you find yourself believing those thoughts but if I said that you’re a rotten banana, that wouldn’t cause you anxiety?
